Game Development

Hi, I'm Melody Henrich.

I'm a Northeastern University graduate with a BS in Computer Science and Game Development. Within CS+GAME, I focus on graphics programming and game engine development. I also produce music, study linguistics, and have a (maybe) unhealthy obsession with document markup.

Shaders

These are full-screen GLSL fragment shaders that I write as little art pieces. I've included my top 3 picks below. I put these up on Shadertoy, along with some other miscellaneous work. Click an image to go to its corresponding Shadertoy page.

Magic Fishbowl

Created 2025-10-29. Raymarched 3D scene described with SDFs. Inspired by NPR work by Levi Magony. Features transparency, outlines, and artist-controlled specular highlight shapes decals. Procedurally animated fish included.

"Very nice" — Inigo Quilez

Luffing

Created 2026-07-17. Raymarched 3D scene described with SDFs. Inspired by my memories of sailing growing up. Waves, sail, and boat rocking animated with trig functions. Custom 2-tone shading with artist-controlled colors for lit and shadowed areas.

Medley of Fireworks

Created 2023-10-09. Procedural 2D animation. The effect is tiled and randomized by hashing each tile's location. The randomness is then used to modify color, speed, and trajectory of firework particles. Trails created through buffer resampling. Bloom effect achieved through gaussian blur.
